Wine advocate 2015

2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Bourgogne Pinot Noir Rating: (87 – 89)   Drink Date 2017 – 2024 Reviewed by Neal Martin     228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, which comes from vines between Nuits Saint-Georges and Flagey-Echézeaux, saw up to 40% new oak due to the tannins. It has an attractive bouquet with lightly spiced black fruit, touches of limestone and freshly tilled soil emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, the new oak neatly integrated with good substance towards the quite elegant finish. This is one of the best Bourgognes that I encountered from the 2015 vintage. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Chambolle Musigny la Combe d’Orveaux Rating: (89 – 91)    Drink Date 2018 – 2028 Reviewed      228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Chambolle Musigny la Combe d’Orveaux has a fragrant bouquet with raspberry preserve, wild strawberry and mulberry scents – not the most complex you will come across in Chambolle, but I appreciate the purity of fruit. The palate is well balanced with red cherry and mulberry, gentle and harmonious, an easygoing and self-effacing Chambolle-Musigny that should give drinking pleasure soon after bottling. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Clos Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Rating: (93 – 95)   Drink Date 2019 – 2038 228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Clos Vougeot le Grand Maupertui has a distinctly more floral bouquet than many others than I tasted from barrel, iris and crushed violet petals infusing the black cherry and blueberry fruit. I admire the precision and terroir expression here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe, red and black fruit, a hint of mulberry and white pepper developing in the glass. It has a grainy texture, firm structure and natural balance and poise on the sustained finish. Persistent in the mouth, this is an excellent Clos Vougeot from Anne Gros. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Echezeaux Grand Cru Rating: (91 – 93)   Drink Date 2020 – 2040 228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit of Les Loachausses, has a very expressive bouquet with vibrant red and black fruit, overtly classic in style, perhaps more reserved than previous vintages that I have tasted, yet conveying the terroir in convincing fashion. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit, cedar, touches of white pepper with fine structure and tension all the way through to the finish. It needed time to open so I would afford this 3-4 years in bottle. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes Rating: (88 – 90)   Drink Date 2018 – 2028 228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes, which is released under Anne’s négoçiant label, has an attractive redcurrant and raspberry preserve-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin, more red fruit than black with a nicely poised finish that just needs a little more energy. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Richebourg Grand Cru Rating: (96 – 98)   Drink Date 2022 – 2045 228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Richebourg Grand Cru was actually more immediate on the nose compared to the Echézeaux (usually it is the other way round). Matured in one-third new oak, it offers quite intense yet pure aromas of blackberry, briary, incense, potpourri and crushed stone all with very impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, red and black fruit intermingling and embroidered with orange zest and minerals. I love the delineation and poise expressed by this Richebourg, and the length is one of the best that I have encountered in almost two decades visiting the domaine. Do not, on any account, underestimate this Richebourg. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières Rating: (87 – 89)   Drink Date 2018 – 2027 Reviewed by   228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières is another wine that is not domaine, but part of Anne Gros’ négoçiant side of the business. It has a lifted, floral bouquet with wilted rose petals complementing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin, a little rigid at the moment, although I think more flesh will develop in the glass. 2015 Domaine Anne Gros • Vosne Romanee les Barreaux Rating: (90 – 92)   Drink Date 2019 – 2030 228, The Wine Advocate The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Barreaux has a very harmonious bouquet with redcurrant, cranberry and blackcurrant fruit that is well defined, conveying fine mineralité (perhaps more than the Chambolle-Musigny at this stage). The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, veering more towards red fruit here with a harmonious and tensile, raspberry preserve and strawberry finish. Excellent – this comes recommended.
