La 50/50

LA 50/50 : a true table wine

This cuvee is born of the blending of 3 cepages to form a table wine, a real one !!!

Issue from a majority of our 25 years grenache, it is joined by Syrah and young Carignan of 35 year's old. Having matured in stainless steel tanks, this wine is delicate, fruity and tense. Its vocation is to be refreshing and fresh, glass after glass... during a meal.

Decanter Mai 2010: Burgundian couple Anne Gros et Jean Paul Tollot who work for separate family estates, wanted to do a joint project, so they looked in the Midi and found superb old Carignan vines in Minervois. This as lovely spice with fresh peppery fruit and a fresh finish. There is southern warmth while retaining essential elegance. One for the barbecue. *** 16/20

Jancis Robinson septembre 2010 : There is a 50/50, an unoaked cocktail of fruit and acidity that reminded me of nothing than a young Bourgogne Rouge.

Guide Parker 2011: 90/100 - The combination of textural refinement;palpable extract yet levity; sheer juicy exuberance;and persistent, dynamic interplay of stone, salt, bittersweet nut oils, and dark berry fruit render Gros and Tollot's 2008 La 50/50 a fine value apt to prove highly versatile over the next several years. Its slight aura of distilled fruit esters is an theme on which the youthful 2010 raw materials consistently pick up.

Wine Advocate: 88/100 The 50/50 has a fresh peppery nose with ample black fruit laced with liquorices, the palate is medium-bodied with a dry entry, firm tannins, perhaps just lacking a little flesh towards the finish. This is a Minnervois that would definitely be enhanced with cuisine. Tasted January 2011.

PETITS ECHOS MILLESIME 2010:

The Underground Wine Letter 12/2012:
This wine is blended from Carignan, Cinsault and Grenache and aged entirely in tank to maintain its fresh and lively character. The grapes are from the area of Minervois but classified the wine is classified as Vin de Table because the percentage of grape varieties used does not meet the requirements of the Minervois appellation.
The wine is dark in color and has a stunningly fruity perfume redolent of cassis and blackberry with a faint floral undertone. It has loads of bright very pure fruit and is rounded and supple with a faint crispness on the finish. This is a beautifully balanced wine with delicious fruit – Outstanding.  3-yellow-stars.gif

PETITS ECHOS MILLESIME 2012:

Wine Advocate mai 2014:  A tank-aged blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, the 2012 Minervois 50 / 50 is outstanding with its beautiful dark fruits, crushed rock, earth and underbrush-styled aromatics. Medium-bodied, elegant and with a superbly layered, rich mid-palate, it will benefit from another year in bottle and drink nicely for 3-5 years after that. 90

Smak Vinguiden 08/2015: 90

Nydelig frukt.

Wine Advocate mai 2015: 89

I think the most straightforward of the new releases, the inky colored 2013 Minervois 50 / 50 is ablend of 40-45% Grenache and the balance an even split of Syrah and Carignan. It's a medium-bodied, elegant and forward effort that has pretty purple fruits, crushed violets, pepper and hints of leather. Drink it over the coming 3-4 years.
